Blood drive

A faculty and staff blood drive is scheduled for Wednesday, April 23, in the May Room of Wilson Commons, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Appointments may be made by calling x5-4085. Walk-in visitors are also welcome.

Win a laptop computer

University Computer Sales is asking for suggestions on how to make their store more Windows-user friendly. The entry with the best three suggestions will win a free laptop computer. For more in formation, call x5-8353.

Vacation Club for Kids

The University's Family Care Program is sponsoring Vacation Club for children ages 5-12 during spring break, April 14­18. The program is for children of University employees and is open from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the River Campus. Cost is $100, plus $25 registration fee. For more information, call x3-4644.

Summer session

Registrations are now being accepted for summer sessions at the College. The first session begins May 27. Call x5-2341 for more information or stop by Room127, Lattimore Hall to pick up a copy of the 1997 Summer Bulletin.

Senior exit interviews

All seniors are asked to contact the Financial Aid Office at x5-4966 to set up an appointment for an exit interview. Transcripts and diplomas cannot be released until the exit interview is completed.

Extra web classes

Due to popular demand, additional workshops on the World Wide Web and html are being offered this spring by the University Computing Center. The workshops include both beginner and advanced topics; After completion of four workshops, participants receive a UCC Web Provider Certification program certificate. The workshops are free for any department in the College. There is a $60 fee per workshop for other departments. To register for a workshop call x5-2811. A summary of the workshops is shown below:

Christian voices

Christian student groups at the University and area colleges will host an evening of worship and singing on Sunday, April 20, in Strong Auditorium.

One VoiceThirst No More will begin at 7 p.m. Admission is free and open to the community. Christian students from upstate colleges, as well as members of area churches, are expected to attend. A guest speaker will be announced.

Student organizers want to bring together Christian groups in the community, as well as to increase awareness of Christianity in the Rochester area.

University music at Barnes and Noble

The University Chamber Orchestra will perform at Barnes and Noble on Monroe Avenue on Saturday and Sunday, April 12 and 13, from 1 to 3 p.m. On Saturday, the orchestra will perform Rossini's La Scala di seta Overture, Mendelssohn's Hebrides Overture, Op. 26, Mozart's Symphony No. 41, Prokofiev's Peter and the Wolf, Strauss' The Blue Danube Waltz, and the fourth movement of Beethoven's Symphony No. 2. On Sunday, the orchestra will perform Rossini's La Scala di seta Overture, Mendelssohn's Hebrides Overture, Op. 26, Mozart's Symphony No. 41, Holst's Brook Green Suite, the fourth movement from Beethoven's Symphony No. 2, and Strauss' Blue Danube Waltz, Thunder and Lightning Polka, Radetsky March, and Tritsch-Trasch Polka. David Harman will conduct.

A portion of the proceeds rung up at a specially marked cash register will benefit the orchestra. For more information, call x5-2828.

Contact lens service

The Department of Ophthalmology provides contact lens services, including comprehensive eye examinations and contact lens fitting. The department is a participating Blue Choice optical provider, is located on the first floor of the Medical Center, and is currently offering a free five-day trial of Johnson and Johnson Acuvue Lenses.

Innovative improvements

The Innovative Improvement Program is seeking ideas for improving patient care and hospital operations at the Medical Center. Brochures containing more information and application forms were recently mailed to department heads and supervisors. Brochures are also available by calling x5-0066.

Volunteers needed

Normal and diabetic volunteers, from 20 to 60 years old, are needed to participate in a one-day study of glucose production in the kidneys after an overnight fast. A $300 stipend is offered to those who complete the study. For more information, call x3-4921.
