Hey! You're on the Internet!!
To find the most recent telephone number, e-mail address, or post office box for any member of the University community, turn to the World Wide Web. Updated monthly, the University's on-line directory can be found at http://www.rochester.edu/FindPeople/ or by choosing the Finding People option at the bottom of the University of Rochester's home page.
Thousands of telephone numbers, post office boxes, and e-mail addresses of people across the globe are also on-line. To find someone not at the University, try these tips, supplied by the River Campus Libraries:
- For someone at another college or university, try the worldwide listing of college and university home pages, http://www.mit.edu:8001/people/cdemello/univ.html.
- With no more information than a name or to find broad background information, use a web searching site such as AltaVista, http://altavista.digital.com. Complete instructions for this easy way to
search are provided at the AltaVista home page. AltaVista will search for the person's name in newsgroups, home pages, directories, etc.
- To find someone's e-mail address and verify that it is in current use, try Netfind, http://www.nova.edu/Inter-Links/netfind.html. By searching with a person's name and location, it is possible to find the full name, correct e-mail address, the last time the person's e-mail account was used, when new mail was received, and whether it has been read.
- For phone numbers and e-mail addresses, try Four 11, http://www.four11.com, which offers e-mail, phone and postal listings, as well as links to the e-mail addresses and home pages of U.S. senators and representatives.
- Switchboard, http://www.switchboard.com, has over 106 residential telephone listings. Users can personalize listings by adding information about their interests or associations.
