River Campus undergoes summer improvements

From a new and improved plaza in front of the Interfaith Chapel to a hockey field and new seats and carpeting in Strong Auditorium, the River Campus is seeing a flurry of improvements this summer.

The Department of Planning and Project Management announced its summer project schedule for the River Campus earlier this summer. The following map and key explain and illustrate the construction agenda.

Wilson North hockey field (start May'97complete October '97)
Construct new sports field.
Hill Court Bridge replacement (start May '97complete November '97)
Remove and replace bridge/relocate telecommunications ductbank.
Meliora Plaza reconstruction (start July '97complete September '97)
Replacement of waterproofing and plaza pavers.
ADA improvements (start June '97complete September '97)
Improve accessibility at Rush Rhees, Meliora and Wilson Commons.
Fauver turf repair (start May '97complete June '97)
Glue down markings and stripping.
ADA improvements (start April '97complete June '97)
Improve accessibility at Alumni Gym/Zornow and Fauver Stadium.
Gilbert renovation (start May '96complete June '97)
Last phase of quad dorm renovation.
Strong Auditorium upgrade (start June '97complete August '97)
Replacement of seats and carpeting in upper Strong.
Admissions Office relocation (start May '97complete November '97)
Multiple moves to accommodate Admissions Office in the Administration Building.
Chapel Plaza reconstruction (start July '97complete September '97)
Structural repairs, plaza replacement, and sidewalk expansion.
Residence halls network project (start June '97complete September '97)
Network cabling to fraternities, Hill Court and Towers dormitories.
Masonry repairs (start June '97complete August '97)
Brick and concrete repairs to Hutchison, Hylan, and Lattimore Halls.
