Experts will tell of gains in cancer war

University researchers will discuss new techniques in fighting cancer at 7 p.m. Wednesday, November 18 in Hoyt Hall on the River Campus.

The lecture, "Revolutionary Approaches to Cancer Research," will focus on research being done at the University's Cancer Center, a designated center of the National Cancer Institute.

The panel includes George Abraham, director of the Cancer Center and Center on Aging and professor of medicine, microbiology and immunology, oncology, and of pediatrics; Joseph Rosenblatt, the Samuel E. Durand Professor of Oncology in Medicine, chief of the hematology-oncology unit, and associate director of research for the Cancer Center; and Fay Young, assistant professor of hematology and oncology. They will describe gains in the war on cancer.

In addition to providing care to patients, the Cancer Center conducts basic and clinical research that has garnered international acclaim.

The event, part of the Wednesday Evening Lecture Series, is co-sponsored by the Alumni Association and Iota Chapter of the Phi Beta Kappa Society of Rochester. Admission is free, but reservations must be made through the Alumni House by calling x3-5888.
