Professor discusses Kahlo

Claudia Schaefer, professor of Spanish, will present the speech "Don't Cry for Me Frida Kahlo" at 4 p.m. Wednesday, December 2 in room 2-110E in Dewey Hall. The talk, part of the Modern Languages and Cultures Fall Colloquium, will focus on how Mexican artist Frida Kahlo's self-portrait small scale oil and tempera paintings were received by the United States public.

Activities Program moves

The University Activities Program, which offers free brochures from local and nationwide vendors and various types of discount tickets for sale to the University community, has a new location on the River Campus. Since November 15, the program has been located in the Customer Service Center on the first floor of the Susan B. Anthony Building.

After December 1, the program will no longer be available from the Parking or Bursar's offices on the River Campus.

Other locations that will continue to offer this program in the University include Strong Cashier's Office in Strong Memorial Hospital; Memorial Art Gallery (movie tickets only); Eastman Theatre (movie tickets only).

Alper presents lectures

Howard Alper, professor of chemistry and vice-rector for research at the University of Ottawa, will present a series of lectures, beginning Monday, November 30 as part of the Hutchinson Memorial Lectures of the Department of Chemistry.

An expert on the science of organometallic chemistry, Alper also has been an important figure in science and technology policy in Canada and abroad.

His talks include "Biphasic and Phase Transfer Catalysts" at 4 p.m. Monday, November 30 in Hubbell Auditorium; "Conventional and Dendritic Polymers and Clays in Catalysis" at 4 p.m. Tuesday, December 1 in Lander Auditorium; and "Regio- Stereo- and Enantioslective Carbonylation and Cycloaddition Reactions" at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2 in Lander Auditorium.

Women's Club hosts luncheon

The University Women's Club invites all members, guests, and prospective members to its annual Holiday Luncheon on December 4 at the Monroe Golf Club, 155 Golf Avenue, Pittsford. A dramatic presentation by actress Sonya Raimi at 11:15 a.m. will be followed by luncheon at noon.

Tickets are $13 a person. Reservations can be mailed to Karen Flickinger, 22 Creekside Lane, Rochester, N.Y. 14618. The deadline for tickets is November 28.

Travel agencies go to 'e-tickets'

University authorized travel agencies, NFT and Town & Country, will begin utilizing electronic tickets for domestic air travel in place of paper tickets.

All relevant flight information, including advance seat assignments, currently appearing on hard-copy tickets will be stored in an electronic data base, and will be provided at the time of booking as a fax itinerary, in addition to the hard-copy receipt in regular mail.

Mother/Child health discussed

"Mother/Child Care: Primary and Secondary Prevention" is the topic of a talk to be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, November 24 in Room 3W301 of Helen Wood Hall. Harriet Kitzman will present this portion of the School of Nursing Exchange. Call x5-7376 for more information.

Health Bites features communication

"Improving Communication with Your Spouse/Partner" will be the topic for Health Bites, hosted by Strong's Employee Assistance Program, from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday, November 24 in Whipple Auditorium in the Medical Center. Jenny Speice, director of Strong Family Therapy Services, is the speaker.

On Tuesday, December 1, the topic will be "Why the Focus on a Women's Health Center?" led by Barbara Moore, manager of the Highland Center for Women. The talk will be held from noon to 1 p.m. in Upper S-wing Auditorium in the Medical Center.

Note Thanksgiving hours

During the Thanksgiving holiday week, the Customer Service Center on the first floor of Susan B. Anthony Hall will be open regular hours Monday and Tuesday, November 23 and 24.

The office will be open Wednesday, November 25, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and will be closed Thanksgiving Day through Saturday, November 28. Regular operating hours will resume Monday, November 30.
