Katha Pollitt, winner of the National Book Critics Circle Award and a well-known columnist/associate editor at The Nation, will speak at 7 p.m., Saturday, March 28 in Hutchison Hall. Her talk, a discussion of feminism in modern American politics titled "What's Wrong With Family Values," is sponsored by the Graduate Organizing Group, with help from the Susan B. Anthony Institute for Gender and Women's Studies and the anthropology department.

The Family Care Program is sponsoring vacation club for 5- to 12-year-olds April 13-17. Biddy Martin, an associate dean and professor at Cornell University, will discuss "Can the Humanities Save University Education? On Wednesday, March 25 at 8 p.m., stage and film actress Agapi Stassinopoulos will present "Conversations with the Goddesses" at the Common Ground Cafe in Wilson Commons.
Stassinopoulos has won the Ronson Award for "Best Actress of the Year" at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London. She will examine the emotions of failure, joy, and accomplishment through her dramatic portrayal of heroines from ancient and modern works of literature.

SIMCON Twenty, a popular games convention featuring role-playing, fantasy, wargaming, board games, and historical miniatures events, will be held March 26-29 in Wilson Commons.
Like its predecessors, SIMCON Twenty will feature special guests, tournaments, anime (Japanese animation) showings, and vendors/dealers displays. Some 500 games enthusiasts are expected to attend.

The Gospel Choir will present Gospel Fest '98, featuring Angie and Debbie Winans, members of the Winans family of gospel singers, at 8 p.m., Saturday, March 28 in Strong Auditorium on the River Campus. They will perform selections from their new CD.
The Winans have written songs for their sibling duo BeBe and CeCe, gospel artist Fred Hammond, and Whitney Houston.

John Martin Fischer, professor of philosophy at the University of California at Riverside, will present a lecture on "Responsibility and Self-Expression" at 4 p.m. Monday, April 6 in Room 115, Harkness Hall, on the River Campus.
Fischer will discuss the differences between behavior for which we are morally responsible and behavior for which we are not. His talk is sponsored by the Department of Philosophy.
