The revision calls for the establishment of new rate structures by mid-April. Training of departmental telephone coordinators and reviews of departmental phone equipment are set to begin in June. The training and departmental equipment reviews will be conducted in phases, one campus at a time.
While initial plans called for the switchover to begin at Highland Hospital, with the Medical Center following and the other campuses last, the order in which campuses undergo phone system conversion may change, and departmental training and equipment reviews will be adjusted accordingly.
Implementation of the system is likely to begin in the fall of 1998, with implementation on all campuses completed by spring of 1999.
The new system is being installed because the 10-year-old system now in place is obsolete, difficult to maintain, and at capacity in some parts of the institution.
