New York City dancers and choreographers Sara Pearson and Patrik Widrig will bring their award-winning talents to the River Campus as part of Arts Fest '98 March 2328.

Pearson and Widrig will offer a lecture demonstration at 8 p.m., Friday, March 27, and a duet performance at 8 p.m., Saturday, March 28. Both events, sponsored by the Dance Program, take place in the Spurrier Gymnasium Dance Studio on the River Campus.

Widrig and Pearson have worked together since 1987, both in duets and with their dance company. Recipients of numerous grants and awards, they have toured with their dance company throughout the world, and video specials of their performances have aired on television in India, South Korea, Mexico, and Greece.

Their work has been commissioned by such organizations as the Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival, Lincoln Center Out-of-Doors, the American Dance Festival, and numerous colleges and universities.

"Sara Pearson is one of the most talented and delightfully unpretentious performers in the current dance world," writes the New York Times. "No other choreographer represented on the program united form and feeling as effectively as Mr. Widrig did."

The duo's work investigates issues of nationality, ritual, and culture, as well as more personal issues of love, loss, and emotions.

Pearson and Widrig's appearance winds up this year's Arts Fest presented by the University's Arts Committee. Earlier in the week, they'll also hold master classes.

Admission to the performance is $6 for the public and $4 with student ID. Admission to the lecture is free.

Call the Dance Program, x3-5150, for more information about the performers. For information about the Arts Fest, call the Arts Committee, x5-9375.
