New show opening at Hartnett

No two people have exactly the same perspective; each has his own "Point of Departure." An art exhibit opening in Hartnett Gallery Monday, April 27 will celebrate a variety of perspectives as expressed by doctoral students in the Visual and Cultural Studies Program.

Presenting new work that revolves around a theme of translation, memory, and cultural difference are Margo Bouman, Karen Kosasa (with Stan Tomita), Marc Léger, Alex Miokovic, Kirsi Peltomäki, Victor Rodríguez (with John Consigli), Lisa Soccio, and Tina Takemoto. The exhibition includes sculpture, paintings, installations, and video art.

The artists will speak informally and be available to answer questions at a reception from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, April 29 in the Sage Art Center on the River Campus. As part of this exhibition, a free catalogue will be available.

"Point of Departure" concludes Sunday, May 10. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., and weekends noon to 6 p.m. Admission is free.
