ART

May 5, Lecture. Metal sculptor Paul Knoblauch will speak on his award-winning work, Averell on Art. Free with Gallery Admission, Auditorium, 7 p.m.

May 5, New Docent Information Meeting. A Q&A session for prospective docents will take place regarding the expansion of the docent program. Free with Gallery Admission, Bausch and Lomb Parlor, 7 p.m.

May 7, Averell on Art: Palette to Palate. A evening of savory summer cuisine inspired by Impessionist paintings, $50 includes dinner, cooking demonstration, lecture, tax and gratuities. Reservations required. Call 473-7720, ext. 3035, Auditorium, Cutler's Restaurant, 6:30 p.m.

Viewpoints Lectures

Held at 5:30 p.m. in the Memorial Art Gallery Auditorium and free with Gallery admission. Lectures are 30 minutes long.

May 5, Lucy Winters Durkin will speak about Rodin's Torso of a Young Woman.

May 12, Masako Watanabe will lecture about a piece recently donated by Japanese raku master Chozaemon Ohi X.

May 19, Delores Jackson Radney will speak about her work with a museum in Antigua, West Indies.

Through 1998, Form and Glaze: Fulper Pottery from the Donald S. Hall Collection. Fulper ware, a prized American art pottery from the early 20th century, is highlighted in this collection of more than 50 objects collected over 20 years by Donald S. Hall, former director of Strasenburgh Planetarium.

Through May 10, Point of Departure. An exhibition by doctoral students in the Visual and Cultural Studies Program, works will revolve around a theme of translation, memory, and cultural difference.

MUSIC

May 10, Concert. The Society for Chamber Music in Rochester presents "Wild About Woodwinds," music by Poulenc, Janacek, and Mozart. Bass clarinetist Ramon Rickler will give a preconcert talk.
