New phones to be installed this year
The Board of Trustees' executive committee has approved a contract with NEC Corp. to install a new phone system at the University.
The University has been working with NEC over the past year in a technical design process to ensure that the proposed new system will accommodate the University's needs. The company has been surveying existing phone equipment (ROLM phones) and wiring on campus.
NEC's other clients include such institutions as Vanderbilt, Syracuse, Fordham, Albany Medical Center, and St. Luke's Roosevelt Medical Center.
Phone installation begins this fall at Highland Hospital and the Medical Center. New phones will be installed at the River Campus, South Campus, Eastman School, and Memorial Art Gallery next May and June.
