Fall break move spares Homecoming
Student concerns about the timing of fall break have prompted a schedule change for the fall semester.
Students last year requested that fall break not be scheduled for the same weekend as Homecoming and the Regatta, and that the break be moved from Friday to Monday.
In response to those concerns and after discussion with students, staff, and faculty, administrators have moved fall break to October 5, the Monday prior to Homecoming-Regatta Weekend. Classes resume Tuesday, October 6.
This year, the change will apply only to students of the College and School of Nursing, as well as graduate students in the School of Medicine and Dentistry.
Due to a conflict with the 1998 concert schedule, fall break for Eastman School students will begin at the close of classes on Thursday, October 8; classes will resume Monday, October 12. In subsequent years, fall break for the Eastman School will coincide with that of the River Campus.
Homecoming and Regatta will be held October 9-11.
