Fischer, ex-radiology-dept. chair, dies
Harry Fischer, former chair of the Department of Radiology, died on November 1, 1998. He was 77.
In the course of his teaching career at the universities of Iowa, Michigan, and Rochester, he was a pioneer in the research of diagnostic techniques. At the time of his retirement in 1991, he was known as one of the world's foremost experts on the use of contrast material.
Fischer will be remembered most for his wit and his high standards, as well as his love of family, nature, and classical music, say family members. He is survived by his wife, Kay; a son, William Fischer; three daughters, Susanne Glynn, Jane Dennison, and Amy Ferris; and several grandchildren. One son, John, predeceased him in 1984.
