River Campus gets ready for NCUR 99

T he campus scene will be a lot more populated when 2,300 visitors come to the University this week. The National Conference on Undergraduate Research convenes on the River Campus April 8, 9, and 10.

The conference's Board of Governors meeting and the first day of registration is on Wednesday. All day Thursday and Friday--with regular classes in the College canceled--and into Saturday, students from 275 colleges and universities will present, explain, and share ideas on research projects. Receptions, excursions, and lectures by distinguished Rochester faculty and national speakers will fill each day.

During the conference, all dining services will be open and available. There will be no changes in parking, though traffic is expected to be heavy. Library Road will be reduced to one way from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. to make a pedestrian walkway for NCUR participants getting lunch in the fieldhouse.

The NCUR 99 Organizing Committee--led by Associate Provost Lesley Curtis, Professor Thomas Krugh, and conference coordinator Andy Seguin--welcomes the campus community to all events. The NCUR 99 information desk in Hirst Lounge in Wilson Commons will have further details as will the conference Web site at www.NCUR99.rochester.edu.
