David Bushinsky, professor of medicine and of pharmacology and physiology at the School of Medicine and Dentistry, and chief of nephrology at Strong Memorial Hospital, has been elected to membership in the Association of American Physicians.

Stephen Levinson has been appointed chair of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Strong Memorial Hospital. He has been a faculty member of the department since 1992 and holds a joint appointment in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.

Elizabeth McAnarney, professor and chair of the Department of Pediatrics at the Medical Center and pediatrician-in-chief at Children's Hospital at Strong, has recently been named president of the Association of Medical School Pediatric Department Chairs Inc.

Kevin Parker, dean of the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, has been awarded the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine's Joseph H. Holmes Basic Science Pioneer Award.

Robert Joynt, professor of neurology and neurobiology and anatomy at the School of Medicine and Dentistry, was recently honored at the "Celebration of Hope" event benefiting the Huntington's Disease Society of America Center of Excellence at the University. Joynt formerly held the positions of vice president and vice provost for health affairs, dean of SMD, and chair of the neurology department.

Howard Merritt has been awarded the Robert F. Metzdorf Prize for "meritorious service and contributions to the libraries" by the Friends of the Libraries. Merritt is a professor emeritus of art history and has been a longtime volunteer for the Friends' annual book fair.

Three Strong Ties employees recently received Partners in Quality Awards from East House: John Rushforth, registered nurse/therapist; Scott Skeirik, intensive case manager; and Ned Dale, intensive case manager.
