Pifer appointed as new director of UFS

R ichard Pifer has been named director of University Facilities and Services. In this role, he oversees a variety of operations, including project planning and management for new construction, facilities maintenance and operations, security services, mail and courier services, and transportation.

"Richard Pifer comes to us with just the right breadth and depth of knowledge--including a commitment to customer relations and staff development, as well as experience at a major medical center--that clearly make him the right person for this important position at Rochester," said Richard Miller, Jr., senior vice president and chief operating officer.

Pifer was executive director and chief of staff for the Division of Facilities at Georgetown University. He joined Georgetown in 1990 after serving in the U.S. Army with extensive experience in facilities support and logistics for overseas and U.S. military operations.

He earned his B.S. in administration from Golden Gate University in San Francisco and his M.S. in management from Cardinal Stritch College in Milwaukee.
