Wilson Day helping hands
HELPING HANDS--Wilson Day '99, held on August 27, marked the 11th year that freshmen, faculty, and staff headed off campus to assist local nonprofit organizations on an array of projects. Here, President Thomas Jackson and students load prizes onto a truck at Hillside Children's Center where a carnival was held. More than 1,200 people volunteered for the community service day this year. August 28 saw the inaugural Wilson Day USA involving Rochester alumni volunteering in Washington, D.C.; Chicago; San Francisco; and Atlanta. Wilson Day USA is a project of the Alumni Relations & Development Office and its UR Involved program. Wilson Day is named for the Joseph C. Wilson family, whose members have been benefactors of the University and the Rochester community. Wilson also was a University alumnus.
