SON student Peters wins creative award

C athy Peters, a post-master's student in the School of Nursing, received the 1999 Creative Excellence Award at convocation on August 31. A plaque was presented to her by Professor Madeline Schmitt. The award honors the "best creative work in human values."

Criteria for the award include focus on and clarity of expression in human values in health care, originality, skill of presentation, and overall quality. Peters's collage, titled A Work in Progress, is a study of medical ethics consultation, a focus of her graduate work. The collage is on display in the entrance of the Medical Center's Edward G. Miner Library until Thursday, September 30.

The contest is open to the University student community and is sponsored by the Interdisciplinary Cluster on Health and Human Values, which was formed in 1982.
