Ireland native William Bowen, Welcher Professor of Dentistry, has been awarded an honorary medical degree from Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland, and the 1999 E.W. Borrow Memorial Award for his contributions to the oral health of children.

John Marcellus--Eastman School professor in the woodwind, brass, and percussion department--has been named by the International Trombone Association as the 1999 recipient of the ITA Award, its highest honor.

Nan Rong, a student in the Master of Public Health Program in the Department of Community and Preventive Medicine, has received a 1999 Public Health Foundation Enterprises Scholarship Award.

Susan Spafford, an Eastman graduate student and violinist, competed as Miss Pennsylvania in the Miss America pageant held recently. She was second runner-up in the pageant and won a $20,000 scholarship.
