A MELIORA MOMENT--The meaning of "Meliora"--"always better"--was apparent on October 13 when a reception was held in Rush Rhees Library to formally dedicate the new lobby and commemorate the recently completed renovations to the Welles-Brown Room. University Trustee Roger Friedlander '56 is shown here cutting the ribbon to formally dedicate the Roger B. Friedlander Lobby of Rush Rhees Library, as President Thomas Jackson and members of the Friedlander family look on. The renovations were made possible by a gift of $500,000 by the Friedlanders. The work is part of an extensive multiyear effort to renovate major portions of the library as part of the "Rush Rhees Renaissance."
