Department given Luce Foundation grant

T he Department of Art and Art History and the Graduate Program in Visual and Cultural Studies will receive $25,000 from the Henry Luce Foundation in recognition of their commitment to American art history.

The funds will be used by graduate students for materials, travel, and early stages of research toward dissertations on topics in American art history. Only six art history departments were selected for the latest Luce American Art Dissertation Research Awards.

Students will be able to pursue scholarship in art related to the American experience in the United States. Mediums of study include painting, sculpture, decorative arts, prints, photography, architecture, and other aspects of the visual arts.
