RE:Facilities Management Information Services (FAMIS)

University Facilities & Services presents our new work management system: FAMIS (Facilities Management Information Services). You can access FAMIS through our home page at www.facilities.rochester.edu. When you do, you'll notice how user-friendly the site is and, more importantly, how you'll be able to gather information about your work order status and billing statements. We hope you'll use FAMIS on a regular basis for all your routine and department-funded work requests. As always, emergency requests (flood, power outage, etc.) should be placed by calling x3-4567 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Here's some information to help you as you begin to use FAMIS:

  • You'll be asked to create your own user ID and password, then fill out a customer profile. The customer profile needs to be submitted just once.

  • Decide from the menus what work you want to be performed: a routine service request (light out, room too hot, window shade broken, etc.) or department-funded request (painting, installing bookshelves, etc.). Please note that all department-funded requests must be accompanied by an account number.

  • When requesting any work, you'll be asked to provide the building name, floor, and room number, if known. Handy pull-down menus will be available to assist you.

Special features

While the process for submitting routine and department-funded work is similar to our previous system, FAMIS offers additional services to you such as "search for work requests." Its features are the following:

  • In an effort to keep you informed on the status of your request, you'll now be able to view whether your work request is open, scheduled, or completed.

  • You'll have access to the total costs of work performed for your department-funded work. This will replace the traditional "services rendered" statements. We believe this will enhance communication and allow you to decide what to print when you want to.

  • You'll be able to see all work requests you submitted for the past 120 days and their status.

  • You may search for work requests in a variety of ways: You can use your name, the work order number, the building location, or an account number to initiate your search. (We recommend you use either the work order number or the account number.)

Now what?

As soon as you send your request for services, you'll be notified immediately with your service request number. Once your request has been assigned, you'll receive a work order number. (You may print it out or do a search for work request at a later time.) That's all you have to do. No more tedious voice mail, no more being put on hold, no more searching for that piece of paper with a work order number on it, no more wondering if the work you requested was ever finished, no more peeling through stacks and stacks of billing statements.

We're committed to bringing you the best in customer service and we believe FAMIS will enhance that service.
