New director of purchasing is appointed

Roach also is named director of auxiliary operations


Roach

Q uentin Roach, manager of worldwide purchasing for Delphi Automotive Systems (formerly a division of General Motors), has been named director of purchasing and auxiliary operations at Rochester. He reports to Richard Miller, Jr., senior vice president and chief operating officer.

Roach will oversee purchasing for the University and its Strong Health system, including contract negotiations for all goods and services. He also will manage relationships with University vendors, as well as bookstore, dining, and other contractual operations.

He holds a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering from Purdue University and a master's degree in engineering from Arizona State University. Roach joined General Motors in 1989, working as an industrial engineer, manufacturing coordinator, master production scheduler, and planner. He became manager of worldwide purchasing (supplier development and quality) for Delphi Chassis Systems in 1995, and manager of worldwide purchasing (metallic) for the Delphi Automotive Systems in 1998.

Among other professional and community activities, Roach has been a featured speaker for the National Black M.B.A. Association's Executive Development Institute and a member of the National Endowment for the Arts' National Advisory Board for Arts Visitation Programs.
