FYIDouglas Crimp, professor of art history and visual and cultural studies, has received a postdoctoral fellowship from the Rockefeller Foundation for the study of sexuality, gender, health, and human rights. Crimp, currently acting chair of the Department of Art and Art History, will complete his study during a year of residency at Columbia University's School of Public Health.Mahin Maines, professor of biochemistry and biophysics at the School of Medicine and Dentistry, has won the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences "Stories of Discovery" Award. The award is in recognition of her lifetime of work on heme oxygenase, an enzyme many biochemists have come to think will be a useful tool in the treatment of stroke, heart attack, cancer, and AIDS. The North American Branch of the International Arthurian Society has elected Alan Lupack, director of the Robbins Library, as president. The International Arthurian Society promotes Arthurian scholarship through conferences and publications. U.S. Surgeon General David Satcher has cited the Primary Mental Health Project--which was developed 42 years ago by University researchers--in the first-ever Surgeon General's Report on Mental Health released last month. He described PMHP as one of five exemplary programs in the nation "that focus on enhancing mental health and primary prevention of behavior problems and mental health disorders" in children. Monica Lee Miranda, director of Greek affairs, has been named the 1999 recipient of the Al Page Memorial Scholarship by the Northeast Interfraternity Council. She received the award at the Association of Fraternity Advisors' national conference, where she also was appointed the liaison between AFA and the Latin Greek letter organizations.
