A VISIT FROM THE VP--In an appearance sponsored by the Young Democrats, Vice President Al Gore came to Strong Auditorium on a wintry February 14 to address an audience of over 1,000 people on the foremost issues of his presidential campaign. Mayor William Johnson, Jr. (far right), was on hand to introduce Gore, as was senior Erica Ortiz (near right), an electrical engineering major who completed an internship with the CIA last summer. During the previous week, First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton made her first visit to Rochester as an official Democratic candidate for the U.S. Senate. She spoke at the Medical Center's Arthur Kornberg Medical Research Building before a crowd of over 300 people.
