Alumnus, surgeon Richard Kobilak dies
Kobilak interned at Strong Memorial Hospital and completed his residency in urology there in 1946. After his service during World War II, he returned to Rochester where he continued to practice for the next 40 years. He was an assistant professor of urological surgery at the School of Medicine and Dentistry and served as chief of urology at Highland Hospital and the Genesee Hospital. Kobilak, who was predeceased by his wife, Betty Schantz Kobilak, in 1992, is survived by his daughters, Linda Barnard of McLean, Va., Christine Klemperer of Syracuse, Deborah McClain of Cleveland, and Sandra Pykosz of Chicago; a sister-in-law, Helen Schantz; two brothers-in-law, Andy Schantz and Fred Rhone; and 13 grandchildren.
