OHRD schedules leadership workshops
The University Leadership Program, which is open to non-Medical Center staff, begins on Thursday, September 21, with "Overview" sessions, followed by the "Leadership" module, which are the foundations for the rest of the program. The other workshops in the program include: "Day in the Life of a Supervisor," "Day in the Life ... Policies," "Committing to Performance," "Facilitating Conflict Resolution," "Appreciating Differences," and "Keys to Service Excellence."* For the University Leadership Program workshops, staff members are encouraged to attend the "Overview" and "Leadership" modules as preparation for the other workshops. Otherwise, staffers may pick and choose which workshops they wish to attend. The workshops have been designed for staff who are new to a supervisor position, but are open to other supervisors as well, including those who supervise student assistants. Staff members on a career path to becoming a supervisor also may attend. The Strong Leadership Workshops begin on Wednesday, September 6, and are open to supervisors who work under the umbrella of Strong Health. Hospital supervisors with less than 18 months' experience are required to attend the program. *The "Keys to Service Excellence" workshops also are required for all Strong Memorial Hospital employees. All workshops are free, with materials provided. Registration information has been mailed to eligible staff members, which contains further details about the workshops. Staff also may obtain registration information by calling x5-4829 or x5-0326.
