Get set for Sesquicentennial Weekend

It's finally here! Sesquicentennial Weekend arrives this weekend, October 12-15, along with numerous events, reunions, and celebrations of all sorts to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the University, the 100th anniversary of the admission of women to the University, the 75th anniversary of the Medical Center, and the 25th anniversary of the Department of Computer Science.

Weekend activities total more than 100 events and, at press time, some 5,700 people had registered. In other areas of the country, the merrymaking began earlier this year with 20 regional celebrations attracting 3,000 alumni and friends.

The School of Medicine and Dentistry, the School of Nursing, and the Eastman School are all planning alumni reunions, in addition to the River Campus reunions. SMD and SON also will mark the Medical Center's 75th anniversary with a number of symposiums, special luncheons and dinners, tours of the new Arthur Kornberg Medical Research Building, and an anniversary gala at the Bausch & Lomb Wintergarden on the evening of Thursday, October 12. The Eastman School will offer several concerts that are open to the public as well as special events for its alumni that include seminars, exhibits, and campus tours. (For more information on Eastman events, see www.rochester.edu/Eastman/index2.html.)
