Originally the scene consisted of three figures--Jesus, Mary, and Joseph. Later the three kings, angels, animals, and shepherds were added.
ITS rolls out reporting productFor those who've ever wondered how it might be easier to receive mainframe-generated reports, a product being rolled out to the University/Strong Health community by the Information Technology Services Data Center could be just the ticket. The product, called VPS (VTAM Printer Support), allows network-connected printers to receive reports directly from the Administrative/Enterprise mainframe computer system. This reduces or eliminates extraneous steps that are currently required to get information, such as centralized printing, courier delivery, or lengthy trips to a drop-off site. VPS is supported by a team at the Data Center, which is the hub of business-oriented computing for the University and Strong Health systems. These individuals can assist in determining if VPS is right for the user and they can discuss which reports are ripe for conversion. They can also help determine if users are properly equipped to use the system and coordinate the connection of printers to the network if needed. Those interested can contact the VPS rollout team by sending mail to DCSVPS@Rochester.edu and/or by visiting the Web site www.dcs.rochester.edu/html/solutions.html.
