Teachers, departments get Goergen Awards

Since 1997, Convocation ceremonies have included presentation of the Goergen Awards, which recognize contributions to undergraduate education in the College. The awards are named for and sponsored by Board of Trustees Chairman Robert Goergen '60 and his wife, Pamela.

Recipients of the Goergen Award for Distinguished Achievement and Artistry in Undergraduate Teaching are Loisa Bennetto, assistant professor of psychology in the Department of Clinical and Social Sciences in Psychology; Joseph Eberly, Andrew Carnegie Professor of Physics and professor of optics, Department of Physics and Astronomy; and Kim Kowalke, professor of music, Department of Music in the College, and professor of musicology, Eastman School.

Two departments will be honored with the Goergen Award for Curricular Achievement in Undergraduate Education: the Department of Anthropology and the Department of History.
