University Web site adds news highlight

isitors to the University's homepage (www.rochester.edu) on the World Wide Web are only a click away from the latest information about Rochester research, scholarship, creative work, honors, and other news about the University.

Beginning January 1, the homepage added a regular "News Brief" feature to highlight notable items about Rochester, its faculty, staff, and students.

The News Brief appears near the bottom of the homepage, replacing the daily Sesquicentennial calendar item that had appeared throughout 2000.

Each item includes a short summary followed by a link to a full account of the featured news. (News releases also can be accessed on the Web site at www.rochester.edu/pr/News.) The feature also includes a direct link to a newly revised calendar of campus events.

Maintained by the Office of University Public Relations, in conjunction with Information Technology Services (ITS), the feature draws on news releases from all University units.

Designed to provide an entertaining way to highlight Rochester's achievements during the University's 150th anniversary, the Sesquicentennial calendar ran its last item on December 31.

The Sesquicentennial site can still be found at www.rochester.edu/sesqui.
