King remembered with campus events
niversity organizations are celebrating the life and work of Martin Luther King, Jr. with campus events, including:
On Friday, January 26, civil rights leader Julian Bond, chairman of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, will deliver the inaugural Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemorative Address at the University. His talk, "Civil Rights, Now and Then," will be presented at 6 p.m. in Strong Auditorium on the River Campus. The event, sponsored by the College Diversity Roundtable and the President's Office, is free and open to the public. On Monday, January 15, first- and second-year medical students took part in a "Day of Multicultural Learning" that emphasized the different ways that various cultures approach and receive health care. The day included a keynote address by Gary H. Gibbons, director of the Morehouse Cardiovascular Research Institute in Atlanta.
