Wallis researcher remembered

A former professor of political science and economics who maintained close ties to Rochester as a research associate in the four years leading up to his death in December will be honored Saturday, April 7, with an academic conference and memorial service.

Jeffrey Banks, a member of the faculty from 1986 to 1997, died December 21 in California. He was 42.

After Banks was diagnosed with leukemia in February 1995, his Rochester colleagues organized a campus-wide bone marrow drive, attracting more than 200 donors.

A professor of political science at the California Institute of Technology, he remained affiliated with the W. Allen Wallis Institute of Political Economy.

The conference and memorial service will be held at Caltech in Pasadena, California.

For more information, contact conference organizer John Ledyard at (626) 395-4037.
