Philosophy of education book funded

andall Curren, associate professor of education at the Margaret Warner Graduate School of Education and Human Development, has been awarded a $50,000 grant to edit a volume on the philosophy of education.

The award from the Spencer Foundation will support Curren's work as editor of A Companion to the Philosophy of Education.

The volume, which is the first of its kind in the field, will feature 45 original articles by 53 scholars of philosophy, education, political science, religion, law, psychology, and English.

Curren, who also is associate professor of philosophy, is an educational consultant and the only philosopher in the United States whose teaching and research are divided equally between philosophy and education.

He has received numerous honors and awards, and has published and edited several books and articles.
