In BriefFamily Care sponsors campFamily Care will again sponsor Camp Fire Kids Klub, a traveling summer day camp for school-age children. The camp features 10 weekly sessions beginning Monday, June 25, and ending Friday, August 31. There will be weekly themes, and activities will include games, arts and crafts, swimming, and field trips. Kids Klub will be held from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. in Spurrier Gym on the River Campus for 5- to 12-year-old children of University employees. For young people ages 13 to 16, a counselor-in-training program will be offered. Registration forms are available through Family Care at x3-4644. Free skin cancer screening setA free skin cancer detection clinic will be held from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, May 12, at the dermatology outpatient area at Strong Memorial Hospital. The 17th annual clinic is sponsored by the Department of Dermatology, the Rochester Dermatologic Society, and the American Academy of Dermatology. Local dermatologists will conduct the screenings, which each take about five minutes and include a written report. For more information, contact x5-1976. Speaking group invites guestsDaybreakers Toastmasters' Club is having a "Guest Day" from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. Thursday, May 3, in the Seneca Room of Strong Memorial Hospital. Employees 'challenged' to runUniversity Employees are invited to participate in the JPMorgan Chase Corporate Challenge 2001, a 3.5 mile road "race" that starts and ends in Highland Park. Although top runners compete in the race, participants who jog or walk the course are welcome. Participants are employees of local companies. Anyone who has worked for the University for at least three months, and who works at least 25 hours a week is eligible. Brain tumor survivor sings May 5David Bailey, who began a career in music after surviving treatment for brain cancer five years ago, will present a free concert at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 5, at the Kornberg Medical Research Building's Flaum Atrium to help celebrate National Brain Tumor Awareness Week. The "Inspired by Hope" performance is sponsored by the Adult Brain Tumor Network of the James P. Wilmot Cancer Center at the Medical Center and Schering Pharmaceuticals.
