'Professors of the Year' announced

A University professor from each discipline area of social sciences, engineering, humanities, and natural sciences has been selected by the Students' Association as an "Undergraduate Professor of the Year."

This year's winners, selected from more than 60 nominations submitted by students to the student government group, are:

* Theodore Brown, professor of history, in social sciences;

* Alfred Clark, professor of mechanical engineering, in engineering;

* Thomas Hahn, professor of English, in humanities;

* Alan Dietsche, senior lecturer in the Department of Biology, in natural sciences.

The awards were presented as part of the second annual Undergraduate Research Conference held on the River Campus April 26 and 27.

The conference is designed to highlight exceptional student work accomplished under the supervision of a faculty member.

Sponsored by the College and Students' Association Senate, the conference follows the National Conference on Undergraduate Research held on the River Campus in 1999.

The steering committee includes Thomas Krugh, professor of chemistry; Joanne Wu '02, projects committee chairwoman for the Students' Association Senate; and Rob Rouzer, director of student activities.
