Eastman academic affairs dean named

Marvin

lizabeth West Marvin, a longtime faculty member of the Eastman School of Music and acting dean of academic affairs since July 2000, has been appointed dean of academic affairs for the School effective July 1.

Marvin will be responsible for administering all academic aspects of the school, including developing and maintaining high-quality curricula and establishing academic policies. The dean oversees and collaborates with other key administrators to recruit and enroll undergraduate and graduate students and also works with the director of the school to hire and retain faculty.

Marvin, who received both her master's and doctoral degrees from Eastman, has been a member of Eastman's faculty since 1982. Prior to her appointment as interim academic dean, she chaired Eastman's music theory department from 1996 to 1999. She continues to serve as a member of the theory department and an affiliate faculty member in the voice department.
