Strong Health offers caregiver workshops
The pre-planning workshops are designed to help caregivers plan for important decisions regarding older adult care. Seminars will focus on the aging process; roles and responsibilities of caregiving; changing family dynamics; communication skills; financial planning and legal concerns, including wills, health care proxy, and power of attorney; and options for long-term care such as senior housing, in-home care, hospital stays, and nursing homes. This six-part series provides information about community resources for both older adults and caregivers with all sessions taught by experts in their fields. Workshops will be held on the following dates: Tuesdays, 7:30-9:30 p.m., September 4, 11, 18, 25 and October 2, 9, St. Thomas Episcopal Church; Mondays, 7-9 p.m., October 8, 15, 22, 29 and November 5, 12, Highland Hospital (staff dining room); Wednesdays, 7-9 p.m., October 10, 17, 24, 31 and November 7, 14, St. Mary's Campus, Bishop Kearney Building; and Thursdays, 7-9 p.m., October 11, 18, 25 and November 1, 8, 15, Independent Living Center for Seniors.
