Greetings from sunny Rochester! We hope you are having a great summer.
This fall, the College will continue its tradition of beginning the academic year with a Convocation for the entire College community. The Convocation and associated activities will involve all undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, and staff in a College-wide celebration of our academic and social lives together.
Faculty members being recognized this year include Curt Cadorette, John Henry Newman Associate Professor of Catholic Studies and associate professor of religion, Department of Religion and Classics; Thomas Hahn, professor of English, Department of English; Michael Scott, professor of computer science, Department of Computer Science; and John Tarduno, professor of geophysics and chair, Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences. The Goergen Award for Curricular Achievement in Undergraduate Education will be presented to the College Writing Program. Yellowjacket Day activities will immediately follow Convocation. The festivities will include a College-wide picnic for faculty, students, and staff on the Residential Quad and Dandelion Plaza. Food, music, and the Student Activities Fair will combine in a display of University fun and entertainment. In all, Convocation and Yellowjacket Day activities will signal the start of the school year, celebrate the return of the College community, and reconnect faculty, students, and staff to one another after the summer break. We hope you will plan to participate in all these events. May the remainder of your summer be productive and satisfying. We look forward to the beginning of the academic year in the fall.
