ONGOING EXHIBITS AND TOURS

At Memorial Art Gallery

Gallery Highlights Tour--Free with admission. Meet at the admission desk. February 5, 10, 6:30 p.m.; February 8, 12, 15, 2 p.m.

February 4-March 3--The Renaissance Print: Art and Culture in Germany and the Low Countries, 1470 & 1600. This exhibition features 33 works from the gallery's permanent collection and a rare book from Rush Rhees Library. Lockhart Gallery

February 17-April 21--Eye Contact. The exhibition by Ken Aptekar features six paintings inspired by works in the gallery's collection and includes a computer station where visitors can create their own "pictures with text" for a display wall.

February 17-April 21--Breathing Glass. The exhibition by Sandy Skoglund features mosiac-encrusted mannequins floating upside down above a blue floor covered with tiny white plastic figures. The backdrop is 50 panels, each studded with dozens of handmade glass dragonflies and miniature marshmallows that vibrate and buzz on wire filaments.

Long-term installations

Through 2002--New Acquisitions for a New Millennium. Showcases 21 masterworks acquired during the last four years, including one of the most significant acquisitions in gallery history--the Inner Coffin of Pa-debehu-Aset, an Egyptian official of the fourth century B.C.E.

Through 2002--About Face: Copley's Portrait of a Colonial Silversmith. An interactive installation about Colonial American portrait painter John Singleton Copley and silversmith Nathaniel Hurd. Dorothy McBride Gill Education Center.

At Wilson Commons

February 4-March 3--Legacy. Exhibition by photographer Jessica Todd Harper features portraits of female family members. Hartnett Gallery. Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, noon to 6 p.m. Opening reception held February 7 in Hartnett Galley, 5-7 p.m.

February 7, 14--Improving Your Memory: How to Remember What You Are Starting To Forget. This four-week self-help program provides an overview of how memory works, how it changes with age, as well as strategies for tackling those areas of memory that exist in day-to-day situations.
