Economist Robert Barro to speak April 12
nown for his extensive writings on macroeconomics, former University professor Robert Barro will be this year's speaker at the McKenzie Lecture on Friday, April 12, at 4 p.m. in Room 207 Schlegel Hall. Sponsored by the Department of Economics, Barro's talk will address religion and economics.
Barro came to the University as professor in 1975 and was John Munro Professor of Economics from 1978 to 1982. He left to teach at the University of Chicago from 1982 to 1984, returning to Rochester as Distinguished Professor of Arts and Sciences until 1987. A columnist for Business Week, and a frequent contributor to The Wall Street Journal, Barro is currently the Robert C. Waggoner Professor of Economics at Harvard University. The McKenzie Lecture series is named in honor of Wilson Professor Emeritus of Economics Lionel McKenzie for his outstanding contributions to the economics field and his lifelong commitment to the doctoral program in economics.
