MLK REMEMBERED--Mary Francis Berry, chairwoman of the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights, speaks with J. R. Santana Carter '04 at the reception ceremony for her talk at this year's Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Address on April 1. While encouraged by the progress made in civil rights and social justice, Berry reminded audience members that everyone must do their part to "break down barriers" and ensure that all people have access to quality education and health care.
