Update: United Way campaign continues

niversity employees have contributed $772,000 to this year's United Way campaign as of April 22, exceeding last year's total by over $2,000.

Still short of the $1 million goal, campaign coordinators are optimistic employees will continue to pledge. While 34 percent of active faculty and staff have made donations, almost 900 who contributed last year are still waiting to pledge. Reminders have been sent emphasizing that this year the need is greater than ever.

Rochester's United Way chapter was the first in the United States to ensure that 100 percent of each dollar pledged stays in the community, funding over 200 service agencies in the Rochester region, which collectively served over 800,000 people last year.

Those wishing to pledge may contact their departmental volunteer or call x3-4756 or x3-4722.

About 34 percent of University employees have given to the campaign as of April 22, for a total of $772,000. The participation goal is 50 percent.
