Institute builds home-school partnerships

The Warner School is organizing this year's Institute on Catholic Education: "Families and Catholic Schools: Weaving a Tapestry of Faith." Scheduled for July 8-9, the institute will offer workshops and lectures that focus on ways to build effective and supportive relationships between Catholic educators and parents.

Now in its 13th year, the institute, which is open to all those in Catholic schools, will examine family issues and connections between home and school. Workshops will supplement the keynote presentations with information on managing stress, reaching out to children in crisis, and addressing social change.

Speakers include Rev. Michael Garanzini, member of the Society of Jesus and president of Loyola University in Chicago; John Findlater, an educational consultant and longtime Catholic school teacher and administrator; and JoAnne Pedro-Carroll, associate professor of psychology and psychiatry and director of programs for families in transition at the Children's Institute.

All events will be held in Wilson Commons. Registration fee required; group rates and housing options available. To register or for more information, contact the Warner School's Center for Professional Development and Educational Reform at x5-8270.
