June 18--Exhibition Walkthroughs. MAG staff and docents provide information on the art in Circa 1900: From the Genteel Tradition to the Jazz Age. Free admission, 6, 6:30, and 7 p.m.

June 28--Alive at the MAG. Kick off the summer at the ninth annual party on the lawn. This year's event features live music and food vendors. Admission ticket includes a donation to the United Way. Gallery Lawn, 5-10 p.m.

Through July 22--Creative Workshop Teen Student Show. This exhibition features work by teen students at the Creative Workshop.

Through August 25--Circa 1900: From the Genteel Tradition to the Jazz Age. Beginning with the height of the Gilded Age, the exhibition offers works from the turn of the century and World War I and ends with the dawn of the Jazz Age. The 93 works include paintings by Cezanne, Toulouse-Lautrec, and Sargent; sculptures by Picasso, Matisse, and Saint-Gaudens; glass by Tiffany and Steuben; furniture by Frank Lloyd Wright; and photographs by Stieglitz, Steichen, and Käsebier. Meet at the admission desk for tours. Free with admission. Fridays and Sundays, 2 p.m.

June 21-September 8--Portrait of Life: The Etchings of Arthur William Heintzelman. Critics have compared the etchings of artist Arthur William Heintzelman to visual poetry. The 48 prints on view in the exhibition--all from the Gallery's permanent collection--include portraits of poor and working class people as well as religious scenes from both Europe and America.

Long-term installations

Through 2002--New Acquisitions for a New Millennium. Showcases 21 masterworks acquired during the last four years, including the Inner Coffin of Pa-debehu-Aset, an Egyptian official of the fourth century B.C.E.

Through 2003--About Face: Copley's Portrait of a Colonial Silversmith. An interactive installation about Colonial American portrait painter John Singleton Copley and silversmith Nathaniel Hurd. Dorothy McBride Gill Education Center.

At Rush Rhees Library

Through August--Display of Books Illustrated by Fritz Kredel (1900-1973). A small sampling of works by renowned book illustrator Kredel. Free and open to the public. Hilfiker Gallery of the Department of Rare Books, Special Collections and Preservation in Rush Rhees Library. Summer hours: Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Through August--Beauty for Commerce: Publishers' Bookbindings 1830-1910. This exhibition chronicles the aesthetic and technical changes in English and American cloth bookbindings. Department of Rare Books, Special Collections and Preservation in Rush Rhees Library. Summer hours: Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m..

HEALTH AND WELLNESS

Noon Hour Health Bites--Informational monthly series of topics related to health and wellness. Sponsored by the Strong Employee Assistance Program. No fee or pre-registration is required. Feel free to bring a lunch. For more information, call x5-4987 or visit www.urmc.rochester.edu/eap/eap.html.

July 9--Women and Depression. Linda Chaudron, director of Psychiatric Consultation Liaison Service and of Strong Behavioral Healthcare for Women, gives comprehensive information about depression in women, including how to identify depression, gender issues in depression, depression during the premenstrual period, pregnancy, postpartum, and peri-menopause. She will also address treatment options specifically for women. Ambulatory Care Facility Rooms A & B (2-1322 & 2-1218), noon to 1 p.m.

CPR Classes--Classes are offered by the Office for Educational Resources (OER) from January through June. Registration fee required. All classes held in the OER Department (2-7500 area of the Medical Center). To register, call x5-7666.
