Construction projects slated for fall
Elmwood Avenue Bridge
The City of Rochester has begun construction to rehabilitate the Elmwood Avenue Bridge. The primary effort will focus on work below the road surface, including trails along each side of the Genesee River. The trail on the west side of the river will remain open at all times. The trail on the east side will be closed for several weeks this fall for reconstruction.
Minimal disruption to the road surface is expected. Two-way traffic will remain throughout the construction period, but the two lanes of travel in each direction will often be down to one lane.

Expansion of Park Lot
Construction work to expand Park Lot is under way. The parking area will be extended toward the Erie Canal and provide 52 additional parking spaces. Lighting and a new blue light emergency telephone will be installed. There will be no sidewalks connecting the lot to either the Erie Canal trail or the Graduate Living Center.
Minimal impact to area traffic is anticipated, but additional truck traffic on Trustee Road and Intercampus Drive should be expected. Work is scheduled to take place Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Some limited work may occur on Saturdays. The project is scheduled to be completed by October 11.
