Fire extinguishers save livesUsed properly, a portable fire extinguisher can save lives and property by extinguishing a small fire or containing a fire until the fire department arrives. Remember, fire spreads quickly. If the fire cannot be extinguished in 30 seconds, it's time to get out. Before deciding to fight a fire follow the acronym RACE:
To use an extinguisher: Stand six to eight feet away from the fire and remember the acronym PASS:
