Robert Gualdin, professor emeritus of music theory at the Eastman School of Music, recently received the Gail Boyd de Stwolinski Prize for Lifetime Achievement in Music Theory Teaching and Scholarship

Ralph Jozefowicz, associate chair for education at the School of Medicine and Dentistry, has received the national Robert J. Glaser AOA Award from the Association of American Medical Colleges. The award recognizes medical school faculty members who have distinguished themselves as outstanding medical student educators.

Amneris Luque, director of the AIDS Center at Strong, has received the 2002 Linda Laubenstein HIV Clinical Excellence Award, which recognizes physicians who excel in the care of patients with HIV. The award was given by the New York State Department of Health.

Catherine Lyons was recently named associate director for Strong Health cancer services and the James P. Wilmot Cancer Center. She will oversee coordination of care and services to cancer patients at all locations and institute patient satisfaction programs.

The Society for Comparative Research has awarded its 2002 prize for best book to G. Bingham Powell Jr., the Marie Curran Wilson and Joseph Chamberlain Wilson Professor of Political Science. Powell's book, Elections as Instruments of Democracy: Majoritarian and Proportional Visions, was cowinner of the society's Mattei Dogan Award for the Best Comparative Book of the Year.
