In BriefITS upgrades online directoryThe University's online faculty, staff, and student directory has been redesigned to allow users to search not only by name but also by telephone number, e-mail address, or department name. Find this improved service on the University's home page or at www.rochester.edu/FindPeople. In addition, with the delivery of the 2002-03 Faculty-Staff Directory, ITS would like to encourage employees to recycle outdated directories. Recycle bins are available at the Medical Center loading dock, Goler House parking lot, and at the Gavett/Harkness recycle location. Music Dept. seeks donationsThe College Music Department is requesting donations of fullsize VHS cameras in working condition for various performance classes. Patient safety course offeredFaculty of the Division of Clinical Practice Evaluation in the Department of Community and Preventive Medicine are offering a new program on patient safety. This "mini" certificate course is designed specifically for health care professionals, trainees, and students from medicine, dentistry, nursing, pharmacy, hospital administration, and health services research. The program consists of ten individual sessions and combines presentations with case studies and discussion covering issues regarding safety. The registration deadline is January 31. An open informational session will be held on January 30, in the Case Method Room (1-9576). Sessions begin on February 6, and end on June 26, and are offered two Thursdays of each month from 5:30-7 p.m. The program, including all course materials, parking, and snacks, is free to University and Strong Health employees and students. Sign up for polarity therapyThe Medical Center Athletic Club is offering polarity therapy every Wednesday starting December 4 (with the exception of December 24 and January 1). Polarity therapy is a comprehensive health system involving energy-based bodywork, diet, exercise, and self awareness. The sessions are provided by Joseph Ferrara, a registered polarity practitioner and member of the American Polarity Therapist Association. To make an appointment, call x5-2437.
Research participants neededBirth Control--Individuals who are currently using or have in the past used Lunelle for birth control are needed for a research study at the University. Participants will receive compensation and free medication. For details, call x3-3788.
