Building on the success of last year's first Meliora Weekend, the University will celebrate its second annual event on October 11-13. This weekend combines four Rochester traditions--Homecoming, Family Weekend, Reunion, and the Stonehurst Capital Invitational Regatta--and will draw some of the biggest names in politics, business, science, world affairs, and the arts. This year's celebration will focus on the theme of leadership.

The weekend offers students a wide array of symposia, career workshops, featured speakers, performances, sporting events, parties, food, and more. Parents are especially encouraged to attend the Parents' Afternoon Luncheon, Rochester Revue, Breakfast with the President and Deans, and department open houses.

Meliora Weekend festivities will begin on Thursday night with the Yellowjacket Student Dinner. On Friday afternoon, former First Lady and New York Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton speaks on "Leadership for the 21st Century." The Daily Show's Jon Stewart will perform a comedy show on Friday night, which is followed by the traditional bonfire. Later that night, Sigma Nu will host Club Night until 3 a.m. at Wilson Commons.

Saturday, Bill Bennett--an influential voice on political, cultural, and educational issues--will deliver a keynote address. In the afternoon, the Fraternity Quad will be the site of MelioraFest, and the Yellowjackets will take on Hobart at the Homecoming football game. That evening, live student performances take center stage at the award-winning Rochester Revue.

Sunday's events include breakfast with University president and deans and a speech by CNN founder Ted Turner on "Leadership in a Changing Global Environment." Later that afternoon, Genesee Valley Park will host the Stonehurst Capital Invitational Regatta, an event that draws dozens of crew teams across the United States and Canada.
